John Deere 644 4x4 payloader

Have this nice Payloader that I use just for my personal fun. I want to install two new tires. Where should I put them-----FRONT OR BACK All four tires are worn about the same.

Always put the new on the front. A large difference in diameter will increase the wear and tear on the drive-line and tires but it isnt the end of the world. The reality is that the working diameter of the tire (which is calculated from the center of the axle to the ground) changes with the loading thus even when all four tires are new the fronts get smaller and the rears get bigger when you put a load in the bucket. Bottom line is keeping them close to the same is good but two different sizes isnt going to kill the machine.

Thanks fellas for the comments----I probably use the machine 4-5 actual hours per year and at 2000.00 per decent tire----was thinking of starting with two instead of going for 8 K....

These guys saying replace all or none must be made of money or tire salesmen! Our 544j is 11 years old now and about 1200 hours and has almost always had tires replaced in pairs, sometimes even running foam filled on one end and solid on the other while they were out being recapped. Never been a bit of trouble. I have seen many loaders done in pairs, and remember even as they wear they become different sizes. I wouldn't worry much unless you plan to road it a lot on dry pavement, on dirt or snowy pavement etc it won't make a bit of difference

I suppose you could call it replacement of common sense with conventional wisdom.

(quoted from post at 18:46:09 08/04/16) The transmission has a differential in it.. nakes no difference.

Never seen that in all my years on many brands of articulated front end loaders and definitely not in a 644.
