I went and did it.

Been watching craigslist and auctions for hay tedders with not much luck. Even used ones sell almost as much as new if you find one. Have hay on the ground and (3rd day now) and still not close to being dry enough to bale. Ponied up some benjamins and bought myself a brand new H&S 2 basket tedder from the local dealer. Just need to hold the rain off 24 more hours.

Not that i need one but i do always stop and read the add and look at the pictures if i see one on craigslist. Im
with ya on the prices . I do always look to see if they have gold plating somewhere like you said even the used ones
the prices are high

I have the only one in my neighborhood (a four basket) and with the rainy year we are having it is the most sought after piece of equipment around. I started charging $10 per acre to ted hay so I would not have to do it and still people call.Ten dollars is to much but I don't really want the extra work. You will not be sorry you bought one.We just bought a second one and am not sure which will sell and have three people interested as soon as we decide. Tom

I did the math on it and if it gets my hay in the barn 3 times without rain it will have paid for itself. I don't have a round baler to roll up rained on hay so even if it's not worth anything we still have to do the same work. I've got 4 more acres to cut once this is up. Looking forward to using it to see how much it cuts drying time.

DLMKA That hay tedder will return a better ratio to investment than just about any other pieces of equipment on the farm. I owned one of the first ones around here 35 years ago. 100% of my hay is tedded. Even if there is rain called for I ted the hay. It will go through a rain much better tedded.
