My 720's water pump was leaking, so I took the lower water pipe off along with the pump and got the pump fixed. I am now trying to reassemble the tractor and get it back to working order. I have gotten the pump itself back on and secured. But, I am having diffuculties trying to get the lower water pipe back into place.

I can get the lower end of the pipe in place to bolt to the engine, but I cannot get the pipe pushed through the O-ring at the top so that it does not leak right at the water pump. Any suggestions to try and get the pipe secure?

I lube those big O-rings up with silicone sealer wiped on them before I install them. This helps them slide right in and seals up small pitting in the pipe. Now once you have it in place slide that pipe back and forth and center it so it has plenty sticking into each housing before sealer dries.

Should have inserted the pipe before securing the pump to the radiator, and like mike said use a silicone sealer.

Or white lube-I have used that a lot of times,if the bore is clean and smooth. But silicone works great too,and will seal it!Mark
