OT, I was shot in the butt ox

Friday afternoon I seen a new born calf next to the fence so I went over to see what flavor it was, I kneeled down next to the fence, and kneeled right on a barb wire that was in the grass. It hurt but I have been poked and scratched by barb wire thousands of times, cleaned the poke with peroxide and left it be, Saturday morning woke to a swollen knee and could hardly bend it, no change Sunday, told wife I am going get a tetanus shot Monday since it has been 8 years since the last one. The wife looked at it and said you need that checked out, no use arguing with her! The doctor looked at it and said she recommends the shot in the rear. So in the end I now have a sore shoulder from the tetanus shot, sore knee yet, and now a sore back side! LOL

Forrest Gump stated, "Mama always said, 'Life is like a box of chocolates... you never know what you're gonna get.'" LOL

Hope all is well soon.

Or as Buzz Sherwood said on The Red Green Show, "Life's like a box of chocolates,so PIG OUT!".

Brings back memories of when I had the ruptured appendix in 1975. Back then all drugs were administered by a shot in the butt. I got five a day back there for a week . Whenever the nurse would come in with the syringe she would ask me which side it was on last time. I lost track so I just attempted to roll over on whatever side I felt best on. I couldn't cross my legs for awhile after that because it stretches the skin back there.

Whenever I go in to get stitched up the nurse asks me how long it's been since the last tetanus shot while she is filling the syringe. The last time I got the shot my arm was not sore for the first time. Come to think of it, when I was in high school I was trying to catch a calf and got the back of my hand ripped open by barbed wire. I could see all the muscles in the back of the hand until the blood came. Tetanus shot time again!

Last time a nurse gave me a shot of pain killer in the butt I was in so much pain (for the reason for the shot) that I never noticed it let alone felt it.

I was exposed to scarlet fever as a kid. They gave me a shot in the butt with a needle about the size of a pencil. The stuff they shot into me was as thick as old buttermilk.

you need to see an orthopedic dr on this. I was working on the kitchen sink one Sat. had to get on my knees. on Sunday I had a red spot on my left knee, very painful. Monday I could hardly walk on it. saw Dr, he sent me to and orthopedic dr. had septic bursitus on knee. it can do a lot of damage if untreated. it will get into the bone. if you have this then you will need antibiotics.. now I knee pads if I need to be on my knees.

When I worked in the ER in the capital city, there were a few folks that got one of those "pencil sized" in each cheek. I believe it was for some of those socialized diseases.

Got one of them in boot camp. Then, our company commander ran us around some and worked the hail out of us doing drills. Thing hurt even more the next morning, but nobody died from it. Well, almost. Big guy we nicknamed "Earfquate" ( his name really was Quate) hopped out of a top bunk the next morning and folded from the pain. He broke both ankles and ended his naval career.....

Guy in the navy went thru the series of shots. He asked for a glass of water after that. Corpsman asked if he was feeling faint? He said no, just checking to see if he was "Water Tight"!!! LOL!!!

Someone I knew that was in Viet Nam said that when the guys would go to see the ladies that charged money and came back with a burning sensation, they would get a shot of Penicillin. When the records showed that they were repeat offenders the juice would be colder and the needle would gradually need to get larger and would cause a little more pain. The thought being that they would think of the consequences before misbehaving without protection again.

Before the late wife and I were married in 1976, we think a false positive showed up in her annual physical and that either required me to have a test that took 3 days to get results or get the shot in the butt. I knew that if I had anything I got it from her, and she claimed (I believe her) that her previous physical was clean and she did not get infected by anyone else.. We both got matching black and blue cheeks as I didn't want to drag it out longer than necessary. For the record, the health care professional thought I was the offender as I was 22 and she was only 19. Also for the record we had no symptoms!

Brown Swiss,

Right, it's not the needle stick that hurts... it's when Nurse Rachet injects the chosen venom.

I actually asked a nurse who gave fairly pain-free shots, why some hurt much more than others. She told me if the serum is injected slowly, then it's usually far LESS painful.

AND I'm older than dirt - because in the "olden days", they used to give LOTS of shots in that same vicinity. As a kid, I got tonsillitis a lot and had pneumonia once too... got treated like a pin cushion every time. :(

Should of! My wife told me the expression on my face was worth the trip. I told her I was making that face cause I had to fart! LOL
