 I recently bought a tractor and have absolutely no info on it, other than it's an old case tractor, which hasn't moved in 42 years. I really need help finding info on it so I can buy parts for it I have searched up the only numbers on it, and nothing comes up.

No: 631-L
#6166700

. Thank you in advance.

Alot of older Cases have a tag riveted on the
instrument panel area by the steering column. The
model is on it . It may start with 1 to 3 letters such
as "S" "DC" "VAC". Some have a long number, 5-7
digits stamped on the edge of the flange where the
engine bolts up to the trans. Hope this helps.....

What color is it? An orange-ish color or orange and tanish, or gray? What do the front wheels look like, wide or narrow? What size tires does it have. Gas or Diesel? What other information can you think of?

Case did make a model 631, (picture below) which would have been a 49HP diesel from the early 1960's.

Another thought, go to tractor Data.com and look through the models, see if you can find a picture that looks like it.

Do the front wheels stick way out in front with a long steering arm on the left hand side as you're on the seat? If so,is the grill sheet metal or cast iron?

It's orange and a lightish yellow. Diesel, The front tires are narrow. I had someone tell me it's a 1961 but that's about it. I'm looking to restore it completely .
Looks slightly like this :http://www.yesterdaystractors.com/cgi-bin/viewit.cgi?bd=dbtest&th=6953[/quote]

It sounds like it is a 630/631, which was made in 1961 and maybe 62, Case discontinued them early on as nobody wanted to pay the extra money for the HP when they could just adjust the injectors on a 530 or 430, though the larger tires are nice.

630 and 631 would have been the diesel version, 640 and 641 are the Gas version. The 630 and 640 would have had the utility front end, with the 631 and the 641 being the row crop front end. The give away for the 630 for me is the 34 inch tires (or is it 36?) as opposed to the 28 inch on the 531 and 431.

Sounds like a 630 series, case used
different numbers in model no.for different
versions of that model.631 is diesel row
crop and letter after number means had
different option.not sure on letter L may
be for extra low gear.or low profile but
don't believe they made any in 630
though.,A letter h after mod.number means
extra high speed gear or a c means case-a-
Matic .I have a 1962 641C wich is gas row
crop with case- a-matic trans. 630's were
built 60-63Your serial number is a early
1961

Alright. I apologize, I'm new at this. But I'll be needing a push rod, since one is missing, and the pistons rings. Any idea where I can get them for my tractor.
