Jonny Cash one piece at a time

A friend gave me a 42 inch mower that he left out in the rain. Said I could have it for parts. Well it had a host of things wrong, mostly as a result of being left out in the rain for 4 years. Here are just a few things. Transmission stuck in gear, combo pulley where drive belt goes and second belt goes to transmission rusted in place. One mower spindle froze up. Ignition switch rusted in place, junk. Water got in gas tank, carb full of rust, junk. Starter solenoid and starter junk. All safety switches, junk. I bypassed them and made a bare bones wiring system. Starter ring had plastic teeth missing, valves needed adjusted. No muffler. 8 thorns in the tires.

Well I had a bone yard of used mowers, robbed parts, traded my used bone yard to a guy in town who works on mowers for the rest of the parts I needed.

This mower is a Jonny Cash mower, one piece at time form different mowers. The only expense was a battery. Some may call this mower a MUTT.

Because I have little expense in mower, I plan to use it in gravel pit and really don't care if it hits a rock. It does a surprising good job of mowing.

I just got another mower given to me, a 25 hp briggs on a husky, 330 hrs on it and person ran it out of oil. Motor is locked up. So much for the newer Extended Life Briggs with chrome rings. Don't see a hole in block. Either the rod locked up on shaft or better chance piston froze in cylinder. Going to take it apart tomorrow. This will make a nice mower for my boy if he buys a bigger place with acreage.
