hello i have a to134141 ferguson would like to know what
year that would be? also it has a 12 volt alternator with built in
regulator, can i bypass the external regulator?it also has
a 12 volt coil, but a 6 volt starter. i would sure appricate
any help. thanks very much.....

You can remove the old 6 v regulator . It is no longer
in the circuit .Tape up the wires. The 6V starter is
fine as is, all of my tractors are that way ...

Before disconnecting the old regulator, trace each wire from the alternator, see where they go. The old regulator should not still be in circuit with the alternator, but you never know...

If any of the old wiring was connected to the alternator, it will need to be rerouted for the alternator to continue to work.

Can you describe how it is wired? What kind of alternator? How many wires?

To check the coil, you need an ohm meter. With the wires disconnected, check the resistance across the + and - terminals.

It will probably read below 3 ohms.

You want the total resistance to be around 3 ohms. Example, if the coil reads 1 1/2 ohms, you will need to add a 1 1/2 ohm resistor.

Or buy a coil that has 3 ohms resistance that does not need a resistor.
