This story may not go over as good, but Im gonna tell it anyway,My wife loves aniamals so muuch she made me promise when I trap the groundhogs in the haveaheart trap,I must take them to a safe spot and release them.I know most of you wont aggree with this,,and I dont either. The fact is,,I cannot lie to my wife. She has a way of looking in my eyes and knowing exactly what I am thinking or saying. So ,,last year I trapped many groundhogs in the havea heart trap. I dont want to let them off where they will get in someone elses yard. Way across town is a swampy type area with a few hills,,no houses or farms around. Last week we drove by there on the way to get to the highway. The wife saw a ground eating grass out in the field. She said that may be one of hers,,She was happy....thats my wife,,you gotta love her.

A person with such a soft spot for animals is indeed a very special one. My wife will catch errant spiders in the house and take them to the barn to be released. Treats me pretty good too! Ben

We had an older lady friend that did that with squirrels, but the population was not decreasing. Her brother told her to paint their tails, because the same ones were coming back, she didn't believe him, but she did it. Pretty soon most of the squirrels at her bird feeder had painted tails.

Other side of the coin, yesterday on PBS they showed a handicapped guy in Michigan with a special permit to use a firearm (scoped rifle) out the window of his van. When a farmer in his area spots a ground hog on his land he calls this guy. If necessary he'll sit for hours waiting for a shot and he's deadly. Last year he shot over 100 of 'em.

I had the same problem with ground hog. I painted a dayglow orange down his back. Week later spotted one in yard without the paint. Another one just moved in to claim the turf.

Woops neighbor had a raccoon raiding his garden and caught lead poison. She had a couple of babies that the kids adopted eventually they started checking out the garden. Well the kids didn't want them killed so I came up with the idea of transportation. One got caught easy the other made a break for the lp tank he almost made it but the girl got his tail. He said a few words in raccoon she said a few words in german he said a few words back she shook her finger and a few words in german in went peaceful after that. They ended up on a back road next to a stream . But if you're right I broke the law but the kids are happy.

You need to find a friend in the neighborhood that will let you release them at his place while he stands next to you with his 12 gage.
That way you won't have to lie to your wife. Just be sure the friend doesn't tell his wife! LOL.

In NJ it is illegal to capture any animal/ However it is legal for a farmer to shoot foxes and coyotes. That is a farmer or his agent.
