The onions were flopped down so I pulled them. While I was working at it,,here comes my neighbor from across the street,He is in his 80s.

He saw me,and he rides over on his lawnmower. He says ,,good to see you back. The potatoes are fine,,,you planted early red norland,,they are done.I watched the plants while you were gone, picked the beatles off just like you were doing before you got sick,,You can dig potatoes now.

I said why didnt you pick some stuff? He said,,its your garden why should I pick your stuff ,,or are you too lazy to pick it yourself? He laughed and said see you later,,,dont forget to stop in for coffee...and he drove off on his lawnmower. Hows that for a great neighbor???

"Hows that for a great neighbor??? "

What goes around comes around.

Your potatoes are farther along than mine here in central PA. Checked last week hoping to get a meal of new potatoes but only found a few tiny ones

That's a good neighbor, make sure he gets some goodies as a friendly gesture.

I haven't been to our garden for a couple weeks again. However, our garden tender say he can't get through much with the cub any more (in places anyway), the plants grew that much.

When I say "garden tender" that's a retired guy that will go over there and kill the whole day cultivating, just to hide. He also stops by once in a while just to give and update. We give him permission to pick what he wants and give him some more as trade for his service.

Ain't got insurance on it yet, swung over to the office to take care of it closed, so It'll have to wait till Monday. Took the flat topper off of it and got the high one secured. As of now I still think it will work.

Before I got the one that got bashed, I had a 85 chevy 2wd half ton, it worked for most of what I needed. Being newer and less rusted it should work better than that one.

It all looks good and he sounds like a great neighbor. We have taken some new potatoes but the plants are still growing pretty well. The onions are still really small from
having such a cool spring, they just didn't take off for a long time. We're a good way north of you so everything is behind.

Larry Red Norland are great early potatoes we have two rows of them and have been digging under the plants and carefully stealing a few baby potatoes are great feel bad for any one that has never tasted new taters that's why we plant them. Randy

Same thing happened to mine. I don't recall them flowering so I thought the heat got them. I guess I'll try to dig some today. LOL

My red norlands never did bloom before they started dieing off. I still got taters from them, and those are good, but I should have had twice as many. Kennebecs and Yukons are showing lots of promise though.

My dawgone taters plants are almost waist high with the rain and hot weather. I plant Chiefton for reds. They did bloom and are at the end of the bloom stage now. We had our first summer squash last night. Radishes are done now. The burbless type cucumbers will be ready to start eating within a few days. We are getting just enough rain with this hot weather that everything (including the stinking weeds!) is growing like crazy.

Nice sized potatoes, looks like they did just fine. I have to dig the last of our potatoes tonight. They are starting to regrow and the vines are just about dead. I had two rows each of Yukon gold, red Pontiac and Kennebec. The Yukon golds all came out first. I have about half of rest to dig. We have a long season here in Missouri so they have to come out or I'll loose them to rot or bugs.
