Left Turn Off Busy Highway

Last week I was hauling haylage for a neighbor and was making left turns off a busy highway. I won't get into the stupid drivers. Does anyone know of a wireless turn signal system? I figure if I could put wireless LED lights at the back of the wagon and a powered turn signal switch in the cab I would have a pretty good system. There are camera systems like this. Why not turn signals? My tractor is a 1971 JD 4320 with cab, no mirrors, flashers but no turn signals.
I am certainly open to other suggestions.

I have been putting hazard lights on all our wagons, all tractors here have the 7 pin plug and turn signals. Having said that, turn signals DO NOT work for IDIOTS. You will still get passed while making a left hand turn with your left turn signal on.

I still have to crowd and cross center line before turning to BLOCK passing.

I think wireless camera is best bet, that way you can see!

Looks like the wireless set up still needs tractor turn signals to work.

Boat trailer light kits are pretty inexpensive, maybe $30 per wagon. I take it your cab is an after-market cab, by 1971 I would think factory cabs would have rear view mirrors and turn signals as options if not standard equipment.

There are several good aftermarket mirror setups with long arms for tractors.

Blinkers make you more legal, but don't help one bit for stupid drivers.

Defensive driving is the only way.

Get a mirror!

Shoup has had them for 10 yrs.or so and some others have too.I think Deere also has kits too. There are several sources for them.Hook up power source in tractor-truck-whatever and mount lights(NO WIRING NEEDED)and GO.

How about a backup camera? Then you could see for sure what's going on behind you.

that would work good ,, I keep thinkin about the dozens of uses when rural king runs a sale , but haven't taken the plunge yet ,,. FOR LEFT HAND TURNS ON A BUSY ROAD WITH A LOAD OF HAY BEHIND that NO ONE CAN SEE AROUND that device would become a life saver.. presently what I do, if I do not know who or if someone is behind me , I will 400 ft or so before my turn sashay the wagon a little and start edging over left of the center ,, this will discourage normal country folks with common sense to wait til I get to my turn off , and if its a stupid girl in her toykiahyunda ,YOU CAN HEAR HER easily over the wide open throttle of straitpiped 6 cyl diesel in a hard pull ...she will lay on the hornand scream AND HOLLER OBSCENITIES THAT her country grandma would wash her 17 yr old mouth out with soap and spank her with a hikory switch

That's a good idea. I seldom get on the highway but sometimes it's a necessity. A wireless system might work for me also. I agree with others that it still won't fix stupid. My house is on a fairly busy highway and I've been passed when turning left in my pickup with my signal on. My driveway is between 2 hills on a double yellow line.

The sad part is turn signals probably won't help much. Instead of wireless it would be best if your neighbor wired his wagons and you just connect to that. Tractors from the last 15-20 years are wired for it with a 7 pin round connector. If it's older then it gets more complicated. We have used wagons with lights the last few years and I think it helps but you still find some who can't wait. A busy highway should have a shoulder pull off and then swing back till you can see behind you from the shoulder while letting traffic pass. I have been lucky and always worked on small enough roads that we just hogged the road so no one could pass and made the turn if you have oncoming traffic take the lane before they get a chance to get around.

I almost forgot the best thing they put on new tractors has been mirrors. They hang out far enough to see around the wagon and you can see what's up behind you. They are cheap enough from shoup or Sloan maybe 200 a mirror and a great solution. We did have a camera on the grain cart and it really worked good till it let the smoke out.

I did this when turning with a wagon load of hay. I do not know what is wrong with drivers these days...not a lot of thinking seems to be going on.
