Alaskan bush people or should I say Idiots

Wife watches Alaskan Bush people. I noticed tonight cutting the side out of a tractor tire to remove ballast. Looked to be a reusable tire. They said only way to get weight out of tire. Also used TWO cans of starting fluid to seat bead on new tires. Most of us has used starting fluid but TWO cans would explode the tire. Also moving old shack up to home site. Used boat in lake with what had to be quarter to half mile of cable. Seems like with generators and some electric lights they would have a small electric 12 volt winch or possibly large garden tractor as they have a phone booth with no phone!!! I really wonder how many so called NEW YORK CITY type people really believe any of this so called reality crap.

There is no such thing as "reality TV". As soon as a video camera starts recording any semblance of reality goes out the window and if there is any left it would remain on the cutting room floor. True reality in most cases would make for a pretty boring TV show that wouldn't make the producers any money which is the purpose of why they're doing it in the first place.

It seems a lot of people watch stupid programs on TV and then complain about stupid programming.
I sometimes wonder if they are so addicted to tv they've lost the ability to shut it off.

Bob and Tom had a guy on one time talking about a show he was on. He was real careful about not reacting like a dipthis. (move two letters to get the word I really want to use) When the show aired someone said something stupid when he was in the room, they cut to a shot of him with a "did your brain just hear what your mouth said" look, and he wasn't even in the same room.

After Mike Rowe parted ways with discovery and landed at CNN,it was because they were the only network who didn't want a script, and he wouldn't do the show while trying to follow one. Unless you count getting in the way and costing the host company a lot of money.

My dad liked Amish mafia. I think that may be part of the reason 1200 miles between us is a very good thing.

Think about it. It is TV so what you see if well a show and much of it is yes as real as a pig flying. Now days how much you see on TV is about as real as you winning the lottery once let alone doing it twice. It is called entertainment

I agree old, its just bs! But what's even sadder is numerous fools watch it! That's the scary part. I don't think we should be questioning the show, but questioning why people are watching it?

Anyone
watching this show more than 5 minutes must be just as dumb as the idjits in the show.

My wife has. She can't exist without a TV on somewhere in the house, usually tuned to CNN.

When she's out of town, I sometimes go several days without turning a TV on.

I watch it at time just for the simple fact it is entertainment nothing of real life just a good laugh but many shows where you see them in Alaska are about as real as pigs flying like life below zero etc etc

Sounds like a description I heard of the Northern Territory of Oz in days past

Home of wanted men and unwanted women

All of these "reality" shows are almost completely scripted. How else can you get enough video that anybody is going to watch just by following people around? "The Red Green Show" was closer to reality than any of this nonsense.

The only one of those I can stand is "Deadliest Catch ". A couple of years ago one of the boats were getting new engines and they came to the plant to watch there engines being built. They talked about the fact there's is not scripted and really no way it can be.

The wife watches that kind of crap when I'm not around. I have no tolerance for any of it,but that show's the worst of the worst.

Ax men was pretty ridiculous, too. I'm not a professional logger, by any stretch of the imagination, but I could watch about 15 minutes and have to change the channel or start wrapping my head in duct tape! Alaska Air is another one that gets pretty goofy.

Todays "reality" shows seem to be the soap operas of the time. (chuckle)

Remember it's a show for entertainment, there are alot of props on that show like mile
of cable and all the other stuff. And just like Ax men, if loggers were that screwed up there wouldn't be any logging you can't run a business like that and make it. But it's fun to watch. Just my opinion.

> The whole thing must be BS because how do they get money. None of them work for a check.

It's Alaska! Everybody gets paid two grand a year just to live there. You can be sure none of those rugged individualists send their Permanent Fund checks back to the state.

I found Ax Men to be quite annoying. Too much foul language. I could not see them get through a single sentence without something getting bleeped. Then there was that Jimmy Smith jerk. Continually screaming at his help, cursing, and just in general losing his temper. Sorry that he died of cancer, but he was still a jerk. After a few episodes, it became apparent that this was going to be just a bunch of bad language, bad tempers, and general nonsense.
Then there were the "survivor" shows. After spending a day in the wild eating bugs and weeds, Bear Grylls most likely spent the night at the nearest Hilton and had a nice breakfast to start the next day.
Sometimes entertaining, sometimes just too far-fetched.

The thing you have to remember is the father came from a family that had money and he has written 70 books and they get paid to do that series. That series is based off of one of his books.

Its TV OK.Do you think Marshall Dillon really shot a bunch of bad guys every week?Hey they are getting you folks to watch them now who is the Idiot? They got paid and you didn't.

I really did not watch it it was no for someone else just happened to notice tractor falling off jack and watched for maybe 5 min, If that makes me an idiot in your opinion well so be it. I think Matt Dillion was set in a different time than this show and said PLAYED by on credits.
