Enclosed trailers

I'm wondering why you'd ask? IMHO it should be the same as a flat bed as long as you chain it down properly. I would think the biggest differance would be that you may have to duck when you enter the enclosed trailer.

Lots of tractor pullers do that, keeps the tractor clean and gives a secure place for tools and other suppplies. Not very good for hauling any other machinery tho. You do need to make sure the floor is made heavy enough as most are not designed for the heavy point loads you get with tractors.

Tying it down so it does not come thru the front of the trailer the first time you hit your brakes is your problem. But as the other poster says tractor pullers and car racers do it all time, you just need to get the right trailer.

I will be purchasing a trailer soon so I can travel to tractor rides. I have a DC Case and an SC. I only would be hauling one at a time and the thought of having the tractor enclosed especially out of town was appealing to me. If I pursue that route I want the trailer heavy enough and doors that swing out so I can use aluminum ramps. I appreciate your help not much experience in this field.

If you do go with an enclosed trailer you will be buying what will basically be a custom trailer. Most enclosed are not designed for wheeled vehicles and those that are would be set up for autos. So you will need to make sure that you get everything you need to make it work for you. There are also significant differences in how enclosed trailers are made unlike flat or utility type trailers, so you will need to carefully consider those as well. I would be happy to help you through the process if you like. I can talk you through the things you will want and need and give you some of the questions you will need to answer for both yourself and get answers from the seller. My father and I bought a 24ft enclosed trailer back in 08 just for hauling tractors. Ordered it with floor joists on 16" centers instead of 24" and a 3/4" floor instead of 1/2". Also had them make the door heavier and install a winch plate under the floor in the nose. Added only about $1000 to the price but well worth it. Only bad thing is it is heavy at around #4500 empty. I added more tie down points after we took delivery of it

One problem is most enclosed trailers the enclousure sets between the wheels and fenders. Thise tractors have a long enough axle that on a flat bed with the bed between the wheels the ends of the axles will stick onet the sides of the bed and depending on how wide you want the wheels set they might even not go between the side rails of the trailer so see where the wheels and axles would come to compaired to inside width of trailer. You would probably need a trailer with the bed over the tires to get it wide enough to go in and unless you would have the fenders inside the box it would be too high to load into unless you have a loading dock and then where you go probably would not have that. So width would be your biggest problem. Those tractors are wider than a car.
