Don't touch it

Ever have a piece of equipment that you just run and never tinker with? I finished mowing hay this afternoon with an old crappy PT10 that just runs and runs. Several guys tell me you should adjust this or that, fix this other thing, paint it or maybe find the chain guard and put it back on. I tell them I won't touch it, it works and I have enough stuff that don't. I also have an old McCulloch 1010 that my son offers to send to the shop for service when he takes his Stihl saws in every year. It starts on the second pull and never fails me, another one I won't touch. Anyone else got equipment like that?

I have my dads old Poulan. From back when they were good saws. Doesn't look like much after years of use. But three pulls and it is ready to work.

Ever hear the song "Things That Work", by the late Guy Clark? A good one for those of us that do not like change.

Guy Clark was one of the great ones, although never made it to the top much nationally, [well I think homegrown tomatos] he was a super performer to people like myself.

My D 14 is very faithful, you can almost look at and it will start.A very good tractor. As soon as you touch the key its gone

The '58 GMC grain truck. It has 77,000 miles on the original six cylinder. The rear main leaks like a sieve, the lift pump leaks like a sieve, the pinion seal leaks like a sieve - I just top it off and it does whatever I want. Some harvests it runs loads all day, sometimes it doesn't leave the shed for months. I was just thinking I needed to fire it up but forgot. I think the last time I hauled with it was March when I was putting clay in terrace washouts. I couldn't even tell you where I got the battery for it (it isn't my usual brand) but it's about 12 years old. The old generator must be easy on batteries. The old thing doesn't even have an oil filter. I just top it off and run her like a scalded dog.

The old Fergy TO35, can sit for months, pull the choke, bump the starter through one compression stroke, it's running! Easiest starting machine ever, and still running points!

I've got a Stihl FS35 string trimmer I bought in the late 80's, $99. Still runs, minimal maintenance, fuel lines, primer bulb, etc. Very dependable!

ep, i have one,..its called a "shovel"! All the rest of my farm equipment needs maintenance and adjusting and fixing on a regular basis or it'll look as old and run as crappy as your PT10.

My dads D-17 is the same way. The only non green tractor (that's an user not a collector)on the farm .

Yep, a Craftsman non-self-propelled mower with a (horrors) Tecumseh engine that I bought in 1989 and have been using weekly for about 7 months a year since then. I cleaned the carb once when I got a batch of bad gas, but no repairs outside of regular maintenance stuff like spark plug and air filter. It starts every time even if I only pull the cord halfway.

My Husky saw. They told me I had to have the first service because carb is set rich and needs to be leaned out after break in. If it starts and runs perfectly I don't want that service done to readjust what is already fine.

Hank, my old 8N. Turn on the switch and push down on the button. He hits first turn. Let him warm up for a minute and away we go. gm
