6 Volt Batteries on Sale

Blains Farm & Fleet in Wisconsin has 6 volt batteries on sale for $39 with old battery. Needed a new one for my 8N Ford. Lot cheaper than $100 or more.

Good price. I bought two this spring for $52 each with old battery, and thought I did pretty good finding them for my price.

Certainly cheap enough--the battery in my Cub is 6V and was starting to show signs of failing last year when I mowed for the last time before putting it up for the winter, and when I got it out this spring it needed a boost to start. Been boosting it whenever the lawn needed mowing so far this year, but I'll need a new one eventually and that price is certainly tempting. No Fleet Farms around here, but I'll have to check the usual suspects (Wal-Mart, NAPA, TSC, etc.) and see what the going rate is locally. Am also trying something this morning just for kicks--a buddy said he'd had good luck with topping off the cells with distilled water and adding an aspirin to each before charging. Seeing as how the battery was used when I got the Cub more than a dozen years ago, and seeing as how this is a bottle of aspirin I got from the dollar store, it expired in 1998, and it's still more than half full, I don't think I'm out much to try it.

The last 6 volt battery I bought from NAPA lasted about 1 1/2 years and failed. They replaced it, but informed me that NAPA would no longer warrantee 6 volt tractor batteries.

My local Wal-Mart does not have 6 volt tractor batteries.

My local farm store does not have 6 volt batteries. There is a place on the shelf for them, but it's always empty.

Looks like I am being forced into doing 12 volt conversions on all of my tractors.
