Pulling the rear wheels off the axle?

Any suggestions on how to pull the rear wheels off the axle on a 1965 John Deere 1010? Pretty sure they have not been off in 30 years and
definite they have not been off in the last 26. Tried to rig up a make shift puller using a draw bar and bolts but it started to bend and I knew
where that was going, nowhere!

abundant amounts of CRC & a big sledge hammer. Keep pounding the rim near the bead & vibrations will break it free sooner or later. Might be later than sooner.

Search through the archives on the John Deere forum here on YT. Rack and pinion axles have been used on most JD row crop tractors since 1953. Successfully moving stuck wheels on those axles has been discussed many many times there.

1. Loosen three bolts that tighten wedges.
2. Tighten up two jack screws against wedges.
3. Soak everything with your favorite squirrel /&*!.
4. Take 8 lb mall and smack end of axle flush on end.
5. Try to tighten jack screw.
If you have helper have one of you apply pressure while other smacks axle.
I am assuming the 1010 has rack and pinion axles. If you get wedge loose 40-50 years of rust and dust will make it hard going. If it moves at all keep going back and forth while brushing, blowing crap away.

What type axles do you have as there were several options and different ways of dealing with each type. You might try moving this ? down to the John Deere section. Tom
