Yard insecticide

Looking at spraying my yard around the house for fleas; roaches; mosquitoes; and other unwanted bugs.

Thinking about using Bifenthrin.
From what I read it is a good spray for the type of bugs I am after and has a soil residual of a few months so it keeps working.

I can get a quart of Bifen XTS with 25.1% bifenthrin for $27.50
At that concentration a quart should be enough to do a little over 2 acres.

Any of you ever use the chemical?
How do you like it?
Or would you recommend something different?

Thanks.

Several of us around here have used it a lot. I think it works great. No odor that I can tell.

Both big box stores carry Spectracide (black container, yellow sticker) that kills over 120 types of pests. Runs about $13 a quart, or the Blue quart of Bayer with the red label, same price and dosage. I use it at about 1 ½ % which works out to 2 oz per gallon for the hand pump or 15 gallon electric tank. Works great for me in controlling all my pests and is cheap. No need to spend big bucks for a little nuisance problem.

Hey John, glad you are still around after all the rain you guys have had over there. We've had our share of poundings but you guys.........

I use this as a mosquito control besides fire ants and in most years, bag worms, and always grubs. I spray it around the house perimeter and in and around the shrubs , garden, flower beds and patio areas. Only have to do it every once in awhile and no bugs. Mosquitos are a special concern for me this year as there are a couple of bad illnesses floating around from them.

I would have edited the original post but site says edit function is temporarily down.

Like all things of the sort you have pages of don't.

I keep my dog in a 40'x40' chain link fence (pen) under a Fruitless Mulberry tree that is about 30 years old whose branches hang over the fence; huge tree....will surely miss it when it dies one day.....so will she if she is still around because on these hot summer days it really cools things off for her.

Built her a nice comfortable dog house with covered porch, anchored pole barn style so the wind couldn't blow it away. Have a heated dog blanket for the winter she really likes. I don't spray in her pen but all around it and once a month she gets a tube of Bayer Advantage Multi I got from the vet that covers heart worms, ticks, chiggers, fleas, mosquitoes and who knows what else massaged into her withers. Only thing I have found in her pen are fire ants and I do them with the pesticide mentioned above in a hand squeeze sprayer.
