Weather alert's been coming on the TV for about 3 hours, flood warning next count west. Just been constant lightening and thunder here. Stared raining hard about an hour ago, checked gauge 2.4" , lightened up a little now. When I was just outside there was a little coon running around hunting for something to eat, digging here and there, didn't pay any attn: to me. They make a nice pet, just like a cat or dog if you catch them real young. My brother caught one for me when I was a little kid. I won a blue ribbon in the fair parade pulling a wagon with the coon in it, Pulled it with my Farmall pedal tractor.

Wish we could get some of that rain. It's getting really dry here. As far as your view of raccoons is concerned, I strongly disagree with you. Here they are a genuine pest. I shot one just off the front porch already this morning. They dig into flower beds and flower pots, upset almost anything that can be moved and generally leave a huge mess around the house and barns--almost every night.

Your right, they are a pest, got the same trouble in the flower bed, every year in the sweet corn. I used to hunt them hard but I still hate to kill one of those little guys. Wound up with 2 1/2 inches in a hurry, sweet corns flat.

I've used Golden link_disallowed and Coca Cola in the corn fields. It's pretty effective. I don't use it at the buildings to avoid killing the cats, etc. Incidentally, the one I shot this morning I took to a place about 700-800 feet from the house--noticed just before noon a rare-for-the-area adult bald eagle feeding on it. Cool!
