Sort of windows 10 related

Since we are discussing Windows 10, privacy, etc - I bought a new lab top this week and once turned on it asked me all kinds of questions about my browsing habits, what devices I own and a bunch of stuff that I could report to Microsoft so they could help me enhance my experience. I get why they do that as you can have a company like Microsoft help do a whole lot of things that the average person couldn't set up and take full advantage of capabilities but to get that help they want to know each time you use the bathroom. There is a price for everything and I'm not willing to pay that one so I answered every question as no, I don't want report it. Maybe that makes me sound old fashion but then if I was a modern guy I probably wouldn't be messing with old tractors, running vehicles until they were complete junk and married 39 years.

Hello Charly M,

You are far from being alone! My 100% pol up blocker does not STOp them to keep pestering me about windows 10!

Guido.

Your correct Charlie. I think the majority of the folks on this site feel the same way. Old School is the Best School..

Yes. See my last reply to my last post on the subject just below. I have to log back in every time it goes to sleep too.

I'm telling you what. That 10 is made for young folks who know all about this stuff and folks who run computers for a living. Average guys like you and me,if you don't know somebody who is willing to help you, you'll be absolutely dead in the water when this Microsoft VIRUS dumps itself in to your computer.

I don't know.....I'm 68 years old and upgraded my $200 laptop to W-10 and never lost a thing and made my cheap computer faster. They knew everything about you long before W-10 came along. Don't do any banking on the computer either.

Hi, I was on w8 but on June 1 my pc switched to w10 . I am finding new things everyday. Even my photos are different. I also have to reboot everytime I go on net. Also I can't reply to yt as it says my cooky blocker won't let me (whatever inH that is) so I have to post with my tablet. ed will

Installed Windows 10 on everything I can. Laptop, business desktop, notebook and even the computer that does only banking. Yes, I have a computer that does nothing but financial stuff. No email and such.

I enjoy the heck out of Windows 10. One of the best systems yet. I don't know if you consider me old, I am on Medicare. Though it has some getting used to, it is easier to find things, quicker and seems quite secure.

It has found drivers for things I was not able to use with 7 and 8.

On all of the Windows 10 computers I set up I don't
use the default settings. When you get to that screen, if
you look at the lower left part of the screen there is a "Custom"
button that lets you turn off all of the snooping stuff. It
is very tiny and hard to see.

"I have to log back in every time it goes to sleep too."

Here's how to change that if you'd like to.
Find Power Options in the Control Panel or click in the
search box and type power options to find it.

The power plan you are using will have the radio button
filled in with a black circle. Probably Balanced.
Click Change Plan settings next to that.
On the next page select Change Advanced power settings.

When that opens you will have the option to require a
password or not. It's a dropdown menu with Yes or No for
when plugged in and when on battery in the case of a laptop.

If you aren't able to change it, click the blue link that says
Change Settings that are currently unavailable, then it will let you.
