Now why is this?

I grabbed a bottle of WD40 from the shop yesterday (don't worry, it was to get grease off my arm). It said in big letters - not for sale in California. Why is that? Is it the propellant? What else could it be?

I've noticed more and more items that are marked not for sale in CA. Looks like manufacturers are getting away from the CA tyranny, used to be if CA didn't like it they'd change it to meet their regs.

This is the same goofie state who is making scrap yards selling used iron, to have it all under a roof, to keep from contaminating the ground with rust. When I painted my motorcycle I had to order the paint I wanted from another state. Every year it just gets keeps getting worse with stupid regulations. Stan

Time to get out if you can. Lots of folks and business are doing it.

California is the worst state in the union for banning certain chemicals. Some are justified, some aren't. It can be very tough to sell there as you often have to reformulate something first, including food products. On a similar note, I've noticed now a number of things I buy at Tractor supply like Sea Foam I am asked if I am over 18 (even though I'm 62 they still ask) so I don't know if its EPA, New York state or just the fact that kids find new ways to get high all the time is the reason they ask. Every state having different regulations makes it tough and expensive to do business sometimes.

I know this will be an unpopular statement, but I remember when CA had smog alerts, air full of dust and smoke. Not really an unjustifiable reason to attempt to control emissions from all sources.

I agree that smog was/is a big problem in some areas but the pendulum has swung so far left that the tree-huggers won't rest until EVERYTHING is banned or made to conform to California regs. Gas cans are a good example: Every one on the market I can find say "CARB compliant" and aren't worth a darn. First thing I do when I buy a new can is rip off the stupid snout with all the springs and such and just use a funnel.

Yes and California is the so far in the financial hole there is no way out,,and such a beautiful and bountiful state,, It proves how tree huggers are a ruination of a great state..and if they had their way the rest of the nation...

That is true but why should I in rural Tennessee have to pay for all those folks that want to live out there on top of each other. Lawnmowers are going to have to meet CARB standards ie propane and more cost.. They should not try and force their standards on the rest of us.

Last year in India one city only let its vehicles run every other day by license number and China had smog that reduced visibility in some cities to a few yards. May be it has gone a little far left, but if you think American corporations and other entities that influence your environment care if you die of cancer or just choke to death on their product you will wind up breathing nothing but exhaust fumes. Big business only lives for profit, joint-stock corporations are an entity that thirsts for return on dollars, not the well being of consumers.
