oil dripping from dipstick

didnt get much response in ih forum so thought i would try here.
noticed my 354 diesel is dripping oil out of the dipstick, i cleaned the filler cap to make sure it was venting, is there any other vents that might be stopped up or is this just from blowby?

There may be a PCV valve in the intake system (look to the parts diagram) that is plugged or stuck.
The oil level could be too high.
There should be a real vent either at the fill or other to filter air entering or breathing out. Jim

If your crankcase is full of diesel fuel you probably have an issue with either the lift pump or the injector pump. Check the lift pump first as it's the lease expensive of the two.

Hi Steven, On BD-154 engine, on the left side of engine there is sort of a PCV steel pipe that goes from the front of the timing cover up to the intake manifold. It uses a banjo type fitting with the bolt with the hole in the middle. You could check that the hole in this bolt is not clogged. Be careful not to drop the two brass washers.

If the crankcase is over full then check the hand/lift pump on the right side of the engine for leaking Diesel fuel into the crankcase. There is a diaphragm in this pump that can leak Diesel into crankcase. Usually there are signs of Diesel coming out the weep hole in the bottom of the lift pump.
