I enjoyed the pictures of the older "big rigs" I was looking for some information for a friend of mine in an older Motor's truck manual. The year of the truck manual was 1954 and some of the brands mentioned included: Available, Biederman,Corbitt Federal and then some of the newer older trucks like Autocar, Diamond T. Brockway Reo and Sterling ( the first time around). Anybody own one of the first 3 brands or pictures of them? Thanks in advance. J.

You might try this site John. Lots of pictures. I always thought the Federal was built in Alma Michigan, but this site says Detroit. I know just north of Rosebush, which is north of Alma, there's a big old Federal sign and a few old trucks sitting around.

Randy, I think you are thinking of Republic, which was made Alma in the teens-20's. They also made a few tractors (R&P was the name I believe), but those never caught on.

Yep, he's right, it was the Republic that was built in Alma. I believe I saw somewhere that the Republic was THE truck of WW1, and many (most?) were left behind in Europe. A co-worker's BIL collects them Republic truck, I think he has 4 or 6 of them. I guess he's the go to guy for info about them.
