2 down and ???? to go

Went by TSC the other day and picked up a live trap because I have lost a couple of chickens and it seems I am going threw a lot more feed than I should be.
Caught a opossum the other night. When my grandson ask what happen to the opossum in the cage my wife told him he got out.
Reset trap last night. This morning my grandson comes over (very early) and wakes maw maw up.
Maw Maw we caught him again; we caught him again.
This one got lucky as he got relocated because grandson was here all day.

Grandson says he wants to catch a armadillo this time.

A few days ago I posted about a missing chicken. Didn't seem like a coon thing but we've been setting traps and have caught 5 coons so far. A couple .22 rounds takes care of that. No one here has any simpathy for coons anymore. Years ago when we caught our first chick eating Raccoon it got relocated do to its cute face.

We lost a laying hen the other night, no feathers or any sign that I could see. That one had taken to roosting in the trees at night though so an owl or coon could have got her. All in all the dog seems to keep most of the predators away.

John,

You undoubtedly have more experience with armadillos than I do. They have just arrived in southern Middle Tennessee within the past 4 or 5 years. I have, however, successfully trapped four of them during this past year, My wife read an article on the internet that said that no bait is needed in the trap. Apparently, they have poor eyesight, so the article suggested that you simply find a path that they take regularly, and place the set trap in the path. That's what I did, and in each case, it only took about two days for one of them to show up in the trap.

I dispatched them with head-shots from a .22 caliber rifle.

Good luck dealing with them. They're nasty creatures.
