O.T. 2003 Ford Focus engine misfire

Of course I had to try to fix something that was not broken. I decided it was time to change spark plugs. Not sure if they were in there since new or how long. I am somewhat paranoid about pulling plugs out of aluminum cylinder heads. I took the plug boots off of the plugs and sprayed P Blaster down the holes on the top of the head that the plugs and wires go into. The next day I removed and replaced the plugs with new. The old ones came out fine and I used ant-sieze on the new. The old ones did not look that bad, but the gap was considerably more than it should have been. Even though I cleaned out the P Blaster with a vacuum cleaner and a rag, I have an ignition miss. It is always missing at idle and when loaded down. Also yesterday the check engine light came on. I figured that the computer should reset itself by disconnecting the battery. I did that today, but still have the ignition miss even though the check engine light is not on! Tomorrow I will probably pull the plugs and wires and clean up everything in the area and try again. Any ideas what else might be an issue? I even put Dielectric grease in the plug boots to prevent any moisture entering the connection.

If the plugs have been in it that long you shoulda sprung for new wires to go with the plugs. I'm guessing the spark plug boot pretty much vulcanized itself to the plug and you ripped or tore it when you pulled the plug wires off, or if you're really lucky you didn't get one seated well when you put it back together and it's telling you about it.

Well I decided to go out and check it tonite. I pulled the wires and plugs and cleaned up the excess anti-sieze and dielectric grease from all. I put together and the #4 plug wire did not seem to seat as it should. I might have noticed it when pulling the wires. I fought that one on and off several times and then it snapped in place. I started it up and it idles fine now. I am thinking that as it did not go down far enough and that there was an excess if dielectric, I probably created an insulated gap for the plug/wire joint.
Thanks for the response.
