Tractor tire work out.

I was at work yesterday and a co worker had came over to ask me if I had a old tractor tire that he could have (I was confused when he asked). I guess there is a new thing going on with city people there working out with (old tractor tires). He started to show me a vedio on his cell phone of these people working out with big tractor tires. they would left it up and roll it around (you can say I never thought of this). I then asked him if he would like the tube that fits in the tire? the tube could be filled up with water makeing the tire heavy. He started to look confused and said I really have not seen them with the tube in the tire on a vedio. I told him that he could be the first on to make that vedio. City people just some times crack me up with what they come up with to do. Changeing a tractor tire is really a work out for me. I do not want to lift and roll one around for a work out.

Yes I've heard of it. My youngest son does it. For a person living in town it's a cheap way to work most of their bodies. He drags one with a rope, gets it up and down and beats on it with a 20 pound sledge hammer. Works at it about 1/2 hour. I can see where it gives a good overall body workout. I was kinda skeptical at first but after doing physical training in the Army for 20 years it actually makes more sense than what we did. You use all of the muscles that you would normally work out and others that most work out programs miss. Like the ones in your upper back from swinging that hammer. So it isn't a dumb as it sounds at first plus it saves money not having to pay for a gym membership.

(quoted from post at 06:58:01 06/01/16) It's amazing how some people do for fun what we call danged hard work.

I wouldn't say they are doing it for fun. Most of the folks who do stuff like that are trying to stay in shape and be healthy. I think that's why they call it a "work" out  ! My son lives in a city. It's either that or a membership. Now I can see a lot of people saying gee, I'm going to do that. Then 2 years down the road thinking "how the heck am I going to get rid of that tire that's in the way, dang, that's a big sucker!

I've seen them do that too. I'm pretty sure the less wrestling of tires I do the better it will be for me ?
Maybe you are missing out on a good thing ? Have them pay you to come change tires for you ? Ha Ha ?

I've rolled those things around more than I ever wanted to, but it sure wasn't just for fun. I wrestled with a 13x38 mounted on a dual rim just a few days ago. I think I blew a gasket, but I learned a lesson. Next time, I'll get the M with the loader on it.

(quoted from post at 09:05:24 06/01/16) That sounds pretty close to changing an old tractor tire. Need to hire some of these young bucks to work on the farm.

heard a story about football coach here in town letting kids get out of gym days for football if they wanted to go stack hay. 9 of 10 were back in the gym the next day.

It amazes me that people pay to work out and pay for a suntan. I get both for free.

A guy I work with likes to brag about his work outs with tires and ropes. You should have heard him stutter and stammer when I invited him to stack square bales with me

Brent I have put many semi loads of them on farm tractors.. they need to be careful there is no good way to pick them up flat off the ground. Where were those guys when I had to pay to get rid of the old 1's?

My daughter roles tires end over end all the time working out. She got introduced to it in college while on the rowing crew. She lives in the city now and doesn't have as much time to come and help me. Although if I really need help she'll head home on the weekend. She's turned out to be the son I never had.

Guys, gotta think. Most of these people, not by choice, live in an urban or city area and don't have the opportunity to do much in the way of physical labor. Through no fault of their own they have never had to stack hay (most guys I know do rounds and large squares and don't stack by hand anyway), change a tire or mount duals. They didn't ask to get born into that environment. And for most getting up the money to farm is impossible. So they live and work in the city. They want to drag/lift/beat on a tire to stay physically fit I'm not going to knock em. Plus they save money by not having to pay for a gym. Funny how later in life these people try buying places in the country! When they are old and fat!

When in high school we hauled square bales all Summer so when football practice started it was like a nice break for me,the guys that had hung around the pool all
Summer were dying in the heat.

When I was in high school us lineman used to flip old combine and tractor tires everyday as a pre-practice workout. It's pretty popular to use them in part of a workout anymore, especially CrossFit training.

Yep, local football coach required so many hours a week in the weight room in the summer, which could be traded hour for hour of pay slips for hay bucking. Our babysitter was a cheerleader, she always got us the best guys. Had a good crew all summer, and they were happy for the work.

Old gorilla in Forest Park Zoo in St.Louis would roll around a 10.00 x 20 truck tire around in the cage. He would sometimes do his #2 in his hand and throw it at you. great attraction!

They use to do that for work outs for football camp. They asked me to do it one time and I said wait till you have to move one loaded with water because it NEEDS to be moved. I've moved a couple that way and told them outright i wasn't doing it. Coach was a little mad but he laughed cause he knew I was one of the few who had to do it for a job not as an exercise.
