Tractor step problem fixed

Recently I posted here asking for suggestions on how to mount a supplementary step on my "new" Ford 4000. The tractor is too high for an old creaky fat guy; I could mount it only with great difficulty. I got several good suggestions here, including photos of an OEM step. I couldn't locate one, so I drew one p and had a friend build it for me. lt works great, makes my tractor actually usable.

Looks good Jerry. It's not unlike the factory ones. I didn't realize that 4000 was a Brit (or Belgian?) tractor, though normally it would have had the parking brake on that side too.

We had the factory ones on 2 4000 and a 5000. Our tractors all had the 38" wheels and that factory step was still too high so we added anouther below it.

Seems like the older we become, the simple tasks like getting on the tractor become increasingly more difficult, so we sharpen the brain and fire up the welder. I've added a step to the drawbar on my Farmall H, and I've added a couple of grab handles to my Farmall M. When my legs just aren't quite up to the task, I grab those handles and pull myself up. There are more ideas floating around in my head. Just need to find suitable material.

I need to make something like that on my D19 Allis. That step up seems to be getting higher every year.

It isn't just aging. I can't be the only one who has noticed that when I got on the tractor in the morning the step was just fine, but by late afternoon that stupid step had raised itself about 6 inches higher.

Sometimes I think older tractors were designed for 14 to 50 year old operators. They were fine for me back then.
