Pulled out my 4wheeler to get it running so I can sell it. It quit running last year and has been sitting since. First I fixed the primer pump that had a hole in the diaphram. But it still wouldn't pump, but it buit pressure. I opened the drain and green antifreeze came out. I looked all over to see where it came from, but there was nothing. Still couldn't get gas in so I pulled the carb. This is what I found inside.

I've seen a lot of crap in carbs, but never green gas. It looked exactly like green antifreeze, but smelled like gas. I'm guessing it's algae so I'll get something for it tomorrow. It had siezed the float on the pin so the valve wouldn't open. I got it all cleaned out and it runs now. Anyone seen anything like that before?

Looks like typical rotten gas to be. I've seen all sorts of carbs that looked like that.

That's pretty severe, but not unusual. Did it have stabilizer in it? That could contribute to the color.

I assume you drained the old fuel.

Green with green gas? I've seen some ugly stuff, but this is the first green color like that.

Looked just like what was in Ingrid's carb when I had to take it apart and repair the float a few months back.

I recently poured 4 gallons of gas in my tractor and it looked green in sediment bowl. Bought it at a high volume station two before putting it in tractor. Never seen it before or since.

I use the Sta-Bil that is supposed to help with keeping the ethanol from messing with the rubber/plastic in my off-road engines- it is blue. Mix it with a little yellowish gas, and you get green.

All I know about is the gas. We pulled a pretty good "blown" 88 Oliver in the late 60s and 70s. The local COOP guy came out and got a PIC of Dad and I with the 88 and posted it in their local monthly, mentioning that we were doing real well "with a little help from COOP's GHP." Dad didn't have the heart to tell him that we recently had gone to high octane aviation gas. gm

I had the same thing with my Suzuki DR350ES last month when I tried to get it running after 4 years. Gas in tank was green! Later found out it had eaten up the screens in the gas petcock and ruined it....cost me 120 bucks for another.

It will pay to remove the main jet and clean and make sure the idle circuit is clean also are you will get to do it again...
