Diesel fuel / injector cleaner ?

Diesels are new to me , I have a decent used Ford 3000 that runs good . I would like to keep it that way , lol .

What would be a good fuel system additive to keep tarnish down an injectors working smoothly . I am on a budget but don't want to waste money on something that doesn't work.

Thanks - Ken

There's not enough Sulfer in diesel fuel now days to properly lubricate older injection pumps. Truckers have been or used to dump transmision fluid in their tanks. Stanadyne makes products for diesels. Lubricity, anti gel and others.

This is old news, but sulfur IS NOT a lubricant in the fuel. The process of removing it also removes some lubricity from the fuel. Getting rid of the sulfur is good for oil and engine life. Many suppliers add some soy diesel (mine adds 2%) which takes care of the lubricity concerns. The only help it gave was in killing algae and bacteria. Otherwise, don't mourn it's loss. Mike

/back in the days of simple atf, it was about the best for diesel, the newer types have a new make-up that can harm fuel system, or so I have read. lots of additives out there for lube & clean

I would not worry about adding anything for cleaning the injectors, I do add an algicide occasionally.

I was an owner operator for over 20 years. All my trucks went over a million miles and were still going strong. My last had a million three hundred thousand miles. the
best thing I ever found is Howes It eliminates water cleans and lubricates. I don't know what it is but some waxy looking substance setteled out of one bottle I had for
two years when i emptied it I put some water in it and it fizzed and made steam?
