Two things I disliked doings.

Top of the list is drinking the party drinks the day before a colonoscopy. Second is buying a new smartphone and setting it up again. I guess the on things that would be worse would be to do both things on the same day.

Never had the Colonoscopy; But the phone... Cant hardly agree more. Just looking at new vehicles this year a salesperson starts telling me about all the new things You can do with your cell phone, we will help set it up He says. I say No interest in anything to do with a cell phone, period! A sigh of relief poured out of him. He began telling me of how many problems they have with getting vehicles to match the 100's of cell phones on the market. Tells me a lot of people have brought new vehicles back just because the phone wouldn't work from the start, cancelling the purchase. A rate of about 4 - 6 per month! My cell phone stays at home 98 + % of the time. I am leaving for work in about 25 minutes, & its not going with me!!!

(quoted from post at 16:03:53 05/18/16) Top of the list is drinking the party drinks the day before a colonoscopy. Second is buying a new smartphone and setting it up again. I guess the on things that would be worse would be to do both things on the same day.
ow, George, you & I both know that you have plenty of 'alone/private' time, sitting, after those 'party drinks' to set up that new phone.

Before I retired, the cell phone was an important tool, BUT, I always told any expected caller to call between X & Y time - because it would not be on except at that time or if I was calling out. Wouldn't let workers have their phone while on the job, a lot of moaning until "you want a job or you want your phone ?" Couple quit - didn't miss 'em. Now it sits in the truck - off, unless I go to town and expect SWMBO to call last minute orders. I'm on 'Pay as you Go' @$11.20 (tx in) per mo. - have accumulated $167.00 air time !;^)

Until I retired 3 years ago at age 75 our company cell phones did so much more than make and receive calls so stayed on during business hours and if on after hours duty 24/7. Now, I carry one but not tied to it. If I am on a tractor I don't worry whether or not it rings. A tool but not a lifeline.

I've been retired for 12 years. Got rid of my landline and ISP service. For me, prepaid smart phone is a bargin. I'm never home. Rachel was the only to call my landline. Now she is stocking me on the cell phone. She even moved to Terre Haute, has an 812 area code and a verizon #.

My cell is necessary for running a rental business. Even posting on YT. geo

Yup, them party drinks is some fun!

Can't comment on the phone part. Don't own one. You want to get ahold of me, you call the land line and leave a message. Depending on the message and the length of my memory at the time, I may call back and I may not. (chuckle)

I can't remember my first colonoscopy. They found thing's, pre cancer. I have them often. Depending on your age, you may want talk to your Dr. Colon cancer is serious.

Now you have something to look forward to.

When at work my cell phone rings "off the hook" but at home and on wknds no one calls me.works for me cause it stays in the house while I'm usually outside anyway.

Me too. If I add all forms of taxes and all forms of insurance I have, my SS WILL JUST about cover it. And I waited to age 66 to get full benefits. Geo

Mr. Buford, I disagree that they are a lifeline. I used to have the same attitude as a lot of you guys about cell phones until one fateful day.
My brother was working by himself in the woods, and rolled a log across his lower abdomen. Totally pinned. A friend had stopped to visit when he saw his truck down the woods road in the morning. Bill had spent 18 hours under this log, spent 4 weeks in the hospital with black fluid oozing from every orifice in his body. Docs sad another hour or two would have been it.
His cell phone was 150 ft away from him on the dashboard of his truck! Now everyone in my family carries their LIFELINE in their pocket!!!

The party drinks may be near the top for me also, and what follows. As for the phone I just go to Walmart, buy a years worth of minutes, and let the kid behind the counter add the time. I'm not smart enough for a smart phone. Stan

I have discovered answers to those 2; as Dave Barry says, cut the goop with vodka. Makes it much easier. Second, have your child set up the phone. You'll get the eye-roll from the kid, you have to endure that, but they can do it, and quick.

Neighbor fell down on the ice, couldn't get up. No one stopped to help. I noticed a few hours later his tractor was still running in his drive. I went over and found him almost frozen to death on the garage floor. He was so weak, he couldn't get up. I said why didn't you call me. He said he left the phone next to the bed. PHONES ARE LIFELINES FOR US OLD PEOPLE. I'VE FALLEN AND CAN'T GET UP.
If you have one, take it with you, it could save your life.

I keep the phone on me at all times due to aging parents. With the I Phone you can push the top button to silence the phone when you don't want to answer. My wife did install a domino game on it. The computer cheats though

awwwh vodka ,..such a nice comfort to have a little ... hope you have a good doc like mine that you can level with you about vodka . mite get the nanny fuz instead ..make sure you clear that with doc ,,. mite make things show up on the scope that really are not there ,.. but I think from my barnyard doctoring it should be ok . . dialing aphone when chemo zaps ya is dam challenging . some of you will recall, from earlier . I have 10 more chemos to take,.after next Tuesday it will be NINE ,..I always take my phone when I go out ,.durn weather was below 50 degrres , when I was rounding up the heifers that decided to take a neighborhood tour,. got them in and it started raing as I was fixin fence ,,. hands were zapin bad ,.couldnot even callanyone ,. so finished up and I drove the tractor to the barn , then sat in the fireplace,.to get my body back in order.,,. as for disliked doings? there are whole lot worse disliked doings a fella can get into at this place ..pulling a calf ,changing trannys on a cold nite with a load of beans on the truck, in the field ..fighting chains and or belts to finish the field so you can get it home to fix it rite .. getting the ol discmower tuned real nice , only to FIND a nylon strap that the nephew had lost while loading hay and destroying the gearbox , spending 500 bux to make the baler tie,. and the junker still misties ..and no one knows what is wrong ..

Jessie, when the party drinks kick in, better not stray far from the John.

The last time there was a delay in the drinks to kick in. So I was on a tractor planting
the garden. It was a difficult time to make it to the toilet. It required a change in
short if you know what I mean. Lesson learned.
