Corn is looking good

Put my baler in the shop & passed this field on the way back home. Corn looks good despite having 10in rain on 1 day earlier in the year. Just south of LaGrange, Texas. Corn was planted in early February.

Looks good compared to pretty much everyone around me in MI, where it isn't even in the ground yet. I like those guys that complain about being late harvesting in October. Try waiting until November/December and snow lol

Well the corn that I had up was only about 1" tall and that froze off 2 nights ago so now it has to start over. Told myself over and over "don't start planting corn on the 18 of April" but all the neighbors were planting and the forecast sounded good so I broke down and went against my better judgement. South central Mn.

You corn should be all right if it was just an inch tall. Growth point still below ground till its about 6 inches unless your ground froze also

Son's corn is about chest high and we are getting rain right now. He tries to plant in March here.

Looks good. I bet your baling schedule is backing up with this every other day rain. We're getting 1/2 to 3/4 an inch every couple of days. I might need you to bale my back yard. I had a really good red onion with my eggs this morning. Thanks. John

When do you expect to harvest? What goes in after the corn for the other half of the growing season?

Around here we wont see a sight like that till mid july in the middle of IL. Corn right now probably at V1 but has a yellow tint to it from the cool cloudy weather. It will be another week or two before thinking about cutting hay.

Our neighbor has the same problem. Figures it will come back but I would be nervous until it does. Ours is still in the bag, maybe start tomorrow if it doesn't rain today.

We have a lot of it planted around but hasn't pop up yet and its been very cool around here we need some warm weather.

Hi, I plan to plant my table corn today. I have great success with 'Bodacious' variety. Big cobs, quite sweet corn flavor. GMO free. Always afraid of frost when planting too early. . Also, corn likes warm soil and hot days. Ed Will Oliver BC

I've got 6 jobs on the waiting list now. This weeks forecast gave me the opportunity to put the baler in the shop. Needs a bearing after about 500 bales, good news is it's still under warranty.
Glad the onion was good, have about a 100 more drying in the garage.

Can't tell you about the harvest as that field isn't mine, just one I pass on the way home. Don't think they planted anything after the corn last year.

I've done 4 custom baling jobs so far, would be more but we have been blessed with a wet start to the haying season thus far that's keep me sitting. Of course the good news is yields will be up when I can roll again.

The growing point for corn doesn't appear above ground until V5-6, so I wouldn't be too hasty to replant.
