I am seeing this a lot as of late, here goes EBAY: A car is up for sale gets bid on appears to sell (no reserve or reserve met). Than bang its back on and goes through this process again. I understand deadbeat bidder but doubt you would get them by the dozen. The cars were Studebakers I was looking at in this case. Next some items pop up on a web site or craigslist than poof its gone (ok so you assume its sold) than bang its back on for very short time. I guess I don't get this on off again thing???

With the e-bay thing, the seller has somebody bidding on the item hopping to get somebody to bid higher. Its against the rules, but it still happens.

I surmised a shill but would he not need a bunch of them?? And its not just one item or one seller.

They could also be pulling the item at the last minute and trying some things with the bidders trying to sell it outside of the auction.

For reasons such as this and others, I have done no business with ebay for over 10 years.

Well it does not seem to be working!!! I know Ebay got hot with the shills and went to hidden bidder id to correct some of it.

I have bought about 600 items on ebay without any problems. I will not bid on any item where the seller does not have an excellent history of feedback or from anywhere overseas. I mostly use PayPal and they do provide some protection from scams and misrepresentation. I buy a lot of parts for my restorations on Ebay from all over the US...good tool for putting buyers and sellers together quickly. JMHO
