Just got home from hospital

We just home from the hospital. I got a frantic call from the wife, her mother who lives with us, fell. She was reaching for a toothpick when no one was watching and tipped her chair over. When I got there she was on the floor complaining about pain in her hip and shoulder. Ambulance took her to the hospital where they bypassed the xrays and went right to the ct-scan. Hip is bruised but okay. Her collar bone is broke though. So they pumped her full of pain and anti-nausea meds, arm in a sling, and sent us home. She's 91.

Thankfully she's got good family. at that age to hear the words she went home has got to show she is really blessed most likely if she had been alone or in a nursing home she wouldn't have the care and love she received.

I will hope for a speedy and complete recovery for her. No fall at any age is good. My MIL fell doing a similar thing and never really recovered.

I hope she heals OK without side effects. A broken bone is not good at all for a real old person.

She's in pretty good physical shape for her age. A bit of Alzheimer's enough so she repeats stories and mixes them up. Forgets what she did yesterday. But can tell you details of her childhood.

I was afraid for her hip. That seems to take out the old folks quite a bit.

She was unsteady at the start of the day (Friday) but got better later. Still needs assistance getting up and down. Only having one wing makes it harder.
