Larry on the Corner's old barn pic reminded me of noticing old barns pens, corals, sheds in back yards all grown up to weeds, brush, vines and trees. As I began to look more I would notice more and more, and I can see that here was a place where they used to have kids, and they got the kids animals, maybe horses, maybe cattle, maybe sheep or goats, and then the kids would be in 4H and getting more animals and needing more building space and more pasture. These would not be farms but places in the country side with a few acres. Then the kids are showing at the fairs and then the state fair and then the regional, and then maybe the nationals. My daughter went to Louisville and then to Arlington Texas. Then I had to make more and better hay. No animals on the place for twenty years now. Most of the fence is gone, but at least I keep the buildings up and keep the areas that used to be paddocks mowed for the most part. Time marches on.
