Adjust hot or cold???
Hot Clarence =????
Cold Clarence =?????
Thanks!!!

14thous hot or cold realy wont make a difference unless you have a guage that fasdtens on the tappets and you adjust while running which would be the only way to be hi-teck but not neccessary for that engine so just set with feeler guage you will never now the difference whether you set them hot or cold.

Farmalltwo,
Can't help you with the valve clearance. However I did have to replace the head gasket on my farmall c, 1950. I have no clue why, but I retorqued the head bolts 5 times. I would run the tractor and then checked the torque, each time the bolts were about 10-20 out. Each time I had to remove the valve train. So when I reset the valves the engine was warm. geo.

Farmalltwo set valves hot. Geo-TH,In I have a Farmall B that has been in family since new with the same engine as a C. It has been overhauled three times and maybe six valve jobs in it life time and never had to retorque head. If you had to retorque that may times I would have got new studs and nuts.

spec's are are for warm or hot engines. if set cold, metal grows when hot so that means you will have less clearance. when set cold you usually add .001 .002 to the spec depending on the spec clearance. also you have to have a feel for the go- no go guage. as two inexperienced people setting valves on the same unit can still mean the settings are different.

Dang smart phone changes things on me. I have a farmall C, never seen a two engine. Smart phone sometimes guesses what I going to write and I get in trouble.

Bill the Farmall is priceless, was my mother's. Engine was rebuilt. I think the reason I had to retorque so many times is new sleeves were installed, which were not flush with the block. Boys at case I H, said that was normal. I think I had to mash the new head gasket into the sleeves. All works fine.

What would I do with a third Terramite?
