We have this little 1250 MF at work the guys use to cut the grass with. Now, my description of the problem is going by what the guy who drives it says. Left side is a shift handle with a snail, turtle, rabbit sitting and rabbit running. On the left is the shifter with 1 - 4, and the 3pt lift control. Forward and reverse is on the steering column. What he is telling me, now matter if its 1, 2, 3, or 4, forward or reverse, it will only move if the other shifter is on the snail, and then it will barely move. If he puts it on the turtle, rabbit or running rabbit, it moves but will stop on the slightest incline. He said it grinds just a little bit when changing animals, but not when changing from forward to reverse or reverse to forward, and it shifts good 1 - 4. Sorry I cant do any better of a description, I haven't looked at it yet to know what hes talking about with it, as I have never been on it.
