Whats your opinion on plastic chunks in oil pan?

I have a 18hp briggs vanguard and there is a screw in rubber/plastic seal around the dipstick. The seal was gone, just chunks left and little pieces fell into the oil. Should I just drain the oil and not worry about it? Or I was thinking maybe pour kerosene in there to wash it out since that would be a lot thinner and run out of the drain faster then oil.

You might pull the oil filler neck out, see if any pieces are still stuck, or laying at the bottom. Not very likely they would flush out, but you could try.

I believe that model has a steel cam gear, so if any went through the gears they would be digested without harm. If it were mine, I would run it, but it's whatever you feel comfortable with.

I had the plastic distributor drive gear break apart and fall into the pan on my '66 Plymouth Fury (225 slant six). After installing a new gear I put another 140,000 miles on the car with pieces of the old drive gear still somewhere in the pan.

I'd not be too concerned...

I have a Briggs Intek engine with a push rod somewhere inside it. Started missing last Spring. Found a push rod missing. Put a new one in and have run it that way since then.
