IH 140 Question

I don't know if it'll lift it will it? As far as running it,the first rotary cutter I ever saw as a kid belonged to a neighbor. It was a pull type and he pulled that behind a Farmall A in canary grass taller than the tractor.

I've noticed the bolt on the lift on the left side of the tractor becoming a bit warped or not lined up as it was and was wondering if it might be because of the mower.

It sounds like your using a three point lift conversion on the IH 140. The original lift on that tractor was made to lift a light cultivator or single row plow. NOT a heavy three point rotary mower. So back to your question, the tractor would have the power to turn the mower in tall grass but not the lift capacity to lift the mower safely.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. I like the 60 inch cutting width of the mower but wish I could hook up a lighter one recommended for the tractor. I had thought about buying a 60 inch zero-turn type riding mower for around $5,000 but since I already have the IH 140, I thought I might be able to use what I have and buy something less expensive but with the same cutting width or wider.

IF your just wanting to mow grass then find a belly mower. There are Woods mowers made just for your IH 140 that would be 60 inches wide. They work well and the IH 140 would power it easily.
