Painting Red---Hisssss.

Couldn't work in field yet yesterday and the sun was shining so thought I would paint the S-99 wheels red. I am a green man so I had no idea how red paint would work in my paint gun. I figured it would be like those old vampire movies when the good guys throw Holy Water on the vampires and they hiss and melt! But to my surprise it worked ok. I posted awhile back about Oliver red paint but I am too cheap to buy the auto shop paint. So I took a qt. each of M.F. and IH and mixed them together. It looks bleached out in the bright sun light but I think it came out good. Painted some of my wife's metal lawn chairs and she is happy so that is the main thing. THANKS------------Tee

Red does not seem to cover well. IIRC you had primered these with a dark brown ? Does that help them cover better ?

Yes--I used to work in a factory, Donaldson's-we made air cleaners. I was the painter. Half the cleaners we sent out the door were primed.-----------Tee

In my limited experience, red over grey primer works very well. Red over dark brown is very difficult to get a uniform color.
