I'm thinking the black air vents are aluminum. They could be painted galvanized, not sure. Whatever the metal, it kills black mold.

Several replys are up in the forum. Copper or zinc cap on the roof ridge, Personaly I like the copper. Spray with water Clorox mix. I have used a mix of water and copper sulfate. See what others say.

Yep, to prevent mold, place a strip of copper or galvanized, (maybe alumnum, but not sure on that), under the top row with just an inch or two exposed. Your whole roof will be like that clean strip!

I asked this question a month ago, tried clorox & water (50/50), and then tried using Tide with bleach & it made the lichen brown. It didnt help enough cause i let it go for years before doing something about it. This picture is before application.

Isn't this just a recent problem ? Or has this been around forever ? Seems like people didn't have this issue several years ago ?

Get some Wet It and Forget It, mix it up according to directions, and put it on with a garden sprayer. It is one of the products that actually work as advertised. These pictures were taken about 2 weeks apart and all I did was spray it on, no scrubbing or any thing else. It can be used on roofs but I have not used it on a roof myself.

My roof looked like RKH picture used Wet and Forget last summer, read the label and be patient. Almost all mold lichen has disappeared from my roof its been 9 mos. Will do one more application this spring just to get rid of the rest. The key is to be patient and let it work.
