I have a Harry Ferguson TE20 ser # TE 35183. I understand the TEs were for sale in England and not exported. It had a Lucus distributor.
Does anyone know if this a rare tractor? It also has a front end loader. Did they come from the factory with one? I've used a lot and it
runs good but needs restoration. I am looking for a new home for it and don't want to sell it for to little or have a scrap metal guy end up with it.

All information is helpful

I can say "with authority" that TE20,s were the norm in the US. We had one that was purchased almost new in 1950 and a TO30 purchased new in 1952. Both were good tractors and still live on the farm. The TE20 needs some distributor work but is otherwise in pretty good shape. I think a loader was offered but it would not be easy to use or easy to steer. It would also impart quite a lot of un-needed stress on the front. A loader in the early 50's would have been quite unusual. I believe that TE designated made in England and I believe that TO was made in Detroit.

Before Harry Ferguson had a factory here in the states to build tractors the TE 20 was built in England and shipped to the US to get a start on the market at the same time the 8N Ford come on the market. When he got his factory up and running here in the states the TO 20 standing for tractor overseas came about and most TE series was stopped from being shipped to the US as he had the tractor built here to sell. I think the TE series was shipped to Canada for a time after the TO was sold here in the states. When the TO 30 became avaible her in the states he kept the TE 20 for sale in England but the engine was changed to more compair to the 30. That is the reason for and I think I am correct on sizes an 80 MM and then an 85MM engine in the 20. So I think all the 20's sold here in the states in 48 were TE models with 49 being devided between the TE & TO series.

Hi salt farmer, Is your loader a LUO model? Does it work off the 3 pt hitch lift arms? Ed Will . BC

All this information has been very helpful. You gentlemen have a lot of knowledge. It is like doing ancestry
research on a tractor. Who knows what stories this tractor can tell. It was a a great example of bailing wire use when I got it.
Someone had wrapped an entire hydraulic hose with bailing wire and the muffler had a tin/tinfoil bailing wire wrap.
I have been able to get parts from YT. However at this point in my life I just cannot restore it. If anyone from YT wants
to go to western Utah you may have it to restore.
