Kind of interesting...

to watch farm machinery trends. Ten years ago, CIH seemed to be pushing Deere out of the area. The last year or so, I am seeing almost no new CIH tractors around. Almost every new tractor I have seen in the area in the last year has been John Deere. The fellow we buy our TMR from has been following the same trend. Ten years ago he had very few Deere's around, and the last three or four tractors he has purchased have all been John Deere. I do know a local fellow told me they are not happy at all with their CIH Tier 4 tractor. Is JD's Tier 4 setup a better working system, or are there other factors at work?

CNH has been trying to push out all the little dealers and combine them with mega stores. Has this been the issue by you?
Have the son's of dealers taken over from dad? Most farmers I know would buy pink tractors if they liked the guy selling and servicing them.
Just a thought.

Yup - I'm a red guy through and through, but all of the big tillage tractors are green. Dealer support means everything. I don't notice and difference in reliability and they both have about the same benefits, but if I need parts I want to go to Deere. I'd rather cut off my own arm than go to McConnell CIH.

I'm sticking with where I am. I'm not sure any of the ag tier 4 machines are stellar. Tier 4 is just so hard to apply to machines for the farm. The tractors on this farm will still be doing their work when I die. I don't need any new headaches.

Deere has been closing the little stores here too. The nearest Deere dealer went from 35 miles to 100 miles away. Looks like I won't be buying much green.

The red guys have all gone green here to the local tsc-cnh dealer here is worthless but the local John Deere dealer is worthlesser so I don't know what's behind probly the salesman promising big things and beating the other guys price buy 15 cents

We had a major forest fire (Butte Fire) here last year in Sept that ran wild for nearly a month. It burned nearly 71000 populated acres destroying 900 structures, about half were homes. It came to within 4 miles of my place.
Many tractors were lost. They sell the heck out of 4x4 Kubotas and Kioti medium tractors here and some JDs too. The Kioti dealer told me last week he is still selling appx. 3 per week.. Most are used for property restoration and maintenance, but lately pot has become the major crop in Calaveras County, but I dont believe anyone is growing it as a row crop.
