MF 50 Multi Power Disengagement

Hi folks, I'm new to the site and forum. I'm guessing this has been discussed before but can't find it. I have a MF 50 multi power. (1962 I think). I've been told I can buy a gear that will disengage the multi power, which will give me engine brake. Is this true and if so what part/gear do I need to make this happen? Thanks for any and all responses....

My goal is to gain engine brake.....my terrain is hilly, steep and bumpy in ever direction....all 40 acres...so is there a gear or kit that can be purchased that will disengage the multi power?

Not so sure that he is saying the multipower is faulty?
They are a good strong tractor, if the MP is working ok they are quite safe, just make sure it is in High when facing downhill.
I've never heard of a modification, but they are not hard to repair in any case. Make sure the hydraulic filter screen is clean and they don't give
much trouble.
It would always be possible to physically lock it out at the lever if it was a concern that it could be used by mistake.

just my $0.02c worth

There are adjustments to the linkage that are supposed to be made. Are you sure somethings broken and needs repair or is it possible the linkage adjustment is needed?

MP is a good system. Very handy.

Just keep it in high range and it will have braking, then if you need the lower range you have it.

If it does not work at all--,and is locked in lo range, [no engine brake] linkage may be disconnected. have read somewhere about leaky units pouring hyd. oil out bell housing, people put them in side that don't leak & disconnect linkage--

Thank you all for the replies. Got it fixed today.....I sold the tractor. And I don't mean I have a potential buyer. I mean a rollback pulled up to my farm at 6pm this evening and took it away. Problem solved
