*NOT SURE OF SOME SPELLING* Have always had a mild case of it in one elbow. Was always caused or set off by certain things in logging. Now its in both arms and real real bad in one. Tried heet linament and wife stretches arm out but does not help much. Any one deal with this???

Had it. Find an elastic elbow band (drugstore) for the purpose. Instant relief. Moves tendon to a new spot. Take it easy and wear it every day for 6 mos.

Yup it hurts!!!
Dr. told me to get the Velcro/stretch bands they have at the drug store (specifically for tendinitis) and wear them just below where it hurts. I found about 3/4 the way up my forearm worked. They work by helping hold the tendons from moving. He also gave me an Rx for the 500 mg alieve. Doing a bunch of firewood, felling, bucking splitting and stacking in between milking and other chores seems to set it off pretty good.

I tried the band or strap. It worked for a while, but moved around on the arm during the day & it's supposed t stay in one spot. I would try the band first. The band may work fine for some as I see lots of people wearing them. I went to doctor for a cortisone shot in elbow area. I really helped take the bad pain away. The cortisone shot does not last forever. Doctor visit and the shot cost a lot(insurance pays a portion) compared to price of strap or compression sleeve. I now wear compression sleeves on each elbow daily & they help a lot. Good luck

I have had it off and on over the years and the band worked for me. The first time the Doctor suggested the band and to take 800 mg of Advil.(for the inflammation) When I asked him about the large dose he stated it would be fine for a couple of weeks but no longer. So that is what I do every time it acts up.

Jocco,

Add my endorsement to the band also. I haven't had a problem with tendinitis for a few years, but the band helped a lot when I used to have pretty regular pain.

Good luck,

for me it was a question of time for it to go away.

As long as you keep doing whatever it was that set it off, its not likely to get better. Wearing the band will help, taking the large dose anti-inflammatory will help. But what it really needs is rest. When I had a very severe case several years ago, doctor finally said go home don't eat don't drink, don't brush your teeth with that arm for two weeks. Keep taking the 400mg of ibuprofen. That was several years ago, it has never flared up since. The elbow needs to rest to get better. just my experience. gobble

I had a bad case of that in my right elbow 30 some years ago. Went to the doctor and got a cortisone shot and wore the arm band for a couple weeks and it never returned.

I had TE in my left elbow for years. I tried everything for it, the arm bands, pain relievers, cortisone shots etc with limited or minimal relief. My family Dr. suggested surgery but I knew it had limited success rate. Finally I was directed to a Dr. outside my insurance plan. He is a traditional MD but also like some alternative medicine. He told me about Prolotherapy. He gave some literature and told me to come back in 2 days. I studied it and as skeptical as I was decided to do it. My insurance company would pay for continued cortisone shots or surgery but not this therapy. See the attached link on it. It took about 4 months but it cured it and the pain has never come back. That was 14+ years ago.

I recommend it to anyone with TE, as long as you are not deathly afraid of needles :-(

Prolotherapy

I too found relief wearing the band on my forearm, that was around 15 years ago, and the condition never returned.

Just food for thought. Do you by chance take lipitor or crestor or anything thing with a statin in it for control of choestral. If you do you can be possibly having a reaction from that. I took lipitor for several years and started having pain in my elbows/ tennis elbow. Got to reading about adverse reactions of taking statins and found out that elbow sorness or any joint for that matter can be an indicator of a reaction to statins. Brought to my docs attention and I switched to tricor and zetia combination and all my soreness went away and it actually controls the cholestrol better. Good Luck.

Get some real horse liniment something with DMSO in it., google it, TSC has it. Friend of mine said he tried it and he could taste it after rubbing it on but it worked.

Had in left elbow in 04, right on the upper edge of that small bone, was using a 1/4 ratchet over my head when it let loose. Wore the arm strap, 500mg of Ibuprofen x2, did some therapy, tried working for 2 months, had to take 2 months off. Hurt for over a year and then healed up almost instantly. Now I have it in rt shoulder plus bursitis and a small tear according to mri 2 years ago, got an appt. for that coming up. I've blamed the cholesterol pills I've taken for close to 20 years but the doctor says count your birthdays, 67 must be too many.

I believe that is what my chiropractor did. He said it helped a lot. Hope it continues to....

Find a chiropractor that does extremities. Not all do. Other suggestion in conjunction with adjustment.

I was on Simvastatin. After about a month started feeling like I had the flu. All my joints hurt, hard to breath, could barley walk. Stopped taking it and started feeling much better.

Acupuncture, I had it so bad in my left arm I could hardly do anything. Tried all the other methods and none helped. After my first session of acupuncture I was pain free, went back a couple more times and have never had any problems since.

You have to supplement vitamin D with your diet when you take cholesterol meds. Other wise your muscles will ache. Just sayin!

I have had it in both elbows it took 40 years of hard wrenching for it to show up when it did the pain caused me to lose grip in my hands.

A cortisone has helped tho they are still a tad sore at times I don't have any other issues with them.

I just acquired tennis elbow about 8 months ago. Actually didnt know what was going on till i went to the doctor for just a regular check-up. When i would shake someones hand and kinda squeeze O man there would be a sharp pain in my elbow actually on the side of it a little. I would dread when i had to shake someones hand i just gritted my teeth and got ready for the Jolt of pain. Told the doctor about it of coarse he wanted to me shake his hand and when i did he twisted it back and forth and told me that it was tennis elbow. He did give me a shot of cortisone. Said it would be better in a couple days. And to try not not use it as much for a few days. Like i said its been 8 months and its just now feeling better.

Jesus Christ r_d97 i went to that Link. Holy crap did you see the length of that needle and that doctor just jabbing it around in there after he stuck it in. Man that give me the willeys just watching it for a sec or two.
