Prince George's County, Maryland Fire Dept.

I was a volunteer fire fighter for 15 years in NE PA. I saw some pretty wild things in that time. Nothing compares to the news that is developing out of the Prince Georges County Fire Dept. (Borders the east side of Washington DC.) Two firemen responding to a welfare check last night got blasted as they entered the building. One died, one expected to make it. My son works for Prince Georges County Fire Depart., but I am not sure yet if it was the same station. He is ok.

Fireman can't carry.

Seems like something similar happened here in upstate/western NY in the last couple of years. Maybe Rochester area? Continual degradation of society. The more crazies find they can get away with, the more mischief they think up. Anyone attacking an emergency responder with lethal force should be hung.

It was the Rochester area. A middle aged man ,known to have mental problems, was upset because his mother donated money to the fire department instead of giving it to him.

The question is why FIREMENare doing a welfare check. Are the welfare people too busy giving out more money they dont have time.

that can happen anywhere--had a guy pull a rifle on me when we were putting out a burning leave pile in his yard--he didn't shoot , we called the cops and they took him away

Our daughter lived in DC for 12 years, in the west and north west part of town. Then moved to McClean, VA for 3 years before moving back to Omaha.

You're right, there are parts of DC, mainly east and southeast, where nobody in their right mind goes.

(quoted from post at 13:21:27 04/16/16) The question is why FIREMENare doing a welfare check. Are the welfare people too busy giving out more money they dont have time.
by welfare they mean the wellbeing of the persons involved, not their economic state.

It may have been a set up or it may have been a situation that they should not have put themselves in to start with. According to the news reports there was a call for medical assistance and when the Firemen arrived to the scene there was no response to their knocks on the door, they decided to break down the door and enter then someone inside started shooting.

I couldn't agree more. Let the guys with the firepower ring the doorbell. And let the firemen (EMT & Paramedics) do their work after the place is cleared.

Madison, Wisconsin news article- the fire dept now has enough bullet resistant vests for everybody on shift to wear going to domestic situations, hazard areas, disasters with reported violence. Means sharing vests as shift changes, but basic chest and back protection with 20 extra pounds of gear. As for firemen can't carry pistol or protection? That is a local legislative action program- a firedept worker spokesman that informally tells Liebural politician that laws need changed or politicians house will 'accidently' be put on the 'no response until police presence confirmed' list. Next step will be the house or campaign headquarters gets put on the 'donated property for training burns' list. Final warning is politicians body gets put on the DNR after testing burn resistant clothing list for Molotov cocktail tests- and politician has to provide the clothes soon. Subtle hint by spokesperson flicking Bic or Ronson lighter and holding can of chainsaw fuel, supersoaker squirtgun. Teasing Alert! RN

Interesting observation. If my door was being broken down, I would be apt to be shooting too, before being able to identify the intruder, because by then it might be too late.

Sadly it has just about gotten to that point. This is the very reason our Founding Fathers wrote the 2nd Amendment.......

Unfortunately, there are members of our current society who aren't that far removed from the animal world.

As a fire and rescue member I always hated domestics. They often put you literally between to very antagonistic individuals. Once a young woman threw a bowl of salad at her significant other then ducked behind me.

In my area the police do the welfare checks. Our fire and EMS do not enter a scene until the police have the area secure.

If forced entry is needed we request police presence.

Ape-like humans have now taken to killing firefighters as well as cops. Quite a demonstration of how intelligent they are.

I was in shock trauma last night getting my hand worked on

when they brought those two fellows in. Boy did shock trauma

fill up with cops , standing room only.
