Don't want to get everyone tired of the horse pics, but here are a few of them once home. They are every bit as nice as the Amish guy said they were. Thrilled to death with them. Bob

Nice team neighbor had a team of dapples just like them my dad used horses for field work up into the fifties cultivating and done all the hay work.

Very nice, I'm only into thoroughbred horses and racing, not that dressage and hunter jumper nonsense, or steeple chase, but I do like seeing draft horses, there size and gentleness amazes me, thoroughbreds can be insane, iv handled hundreds of thoroughbreds over 26 years! Lol thanks for posting. Here's my mare at about 29 she's now 32 years old.

I personally never get tired of horse pictures. I would also be thrilled with a team of horses like those.

Dick I think you're onto something, maybe that should be a Wednesday night feature pics of horses?

I like horses, but I've never really been a nut about them. I really think those are a good looking pair. Thanks for posting the pics!

As well you should be. "Braggin' rights" on teams is based on how pretty they are, how well they are matched and disposition. Looks like you've got a 10 on all three. Great find.

Hi Bob, I've asked this question several time to "Horse" people, What are those two round balls for on the top of the horse's Shoulders? What do they do?. I've never got a strait answer. Thanks Jim in N.M.

(quoted from post at 16:26:23 04/08/16) Hi Bob, I've asked this question several time to "Horse" people, What are those two round balls for on the top of the horse's Shoulders? What do they do?. I've never got a strait answer. Thanks Jim in N.M.

And you won't get a straight answer because they are round! lol.

Jim - the round balls are actually the tops of the hames. The hames are the two metal (could be wood) round rods that sort of clamp around the leather collars. The collars go around the neck and spread the load out over the shoulders so the horses shoulders dont get sore as easy. The tugs or traces are hooked to the hames, and then hooked to the load you are pulling.

The round balls themselves are just for show. Some hames don't have them. Hope this sheds a little light on it. Bob

My father-in-law had a team of Percherons till he pass away in 86. Some Sundays he would hitch them up to the box wagon and grandkids would pile in and he would drive them around the section.

The Boys are Sonny and Sammy. They are 5 and 6 year old Percheron Draft Horses. Very well mannered and super nice horses. I'll probably hitch them tomorrow and see if I can get a few more pics. This picture is of them in a little corral I put them in while they were getting used to my other two. Turned them all together this am and they appear to be best buddies this evening. Bob
