Woodbine, Maryland?

Anyone happen to be near Woodbine, Maryland? There's a guy that's got a tractor for sale and I'm pretty set on buying it. Already got shipping arrange for a very reasonable price. Tractor and guy seems legit, just scary when it comes down to wiring money to his bank account.

Im not near it but am marginally familiar with the area. If it is decent price, get it provided you are dealing with a reputable individual and not a scammer from Africa. It has probably never sat out or even touched manure. that area is high priced ground rapidly being eaten by suburban sprawl. All the old time farmers getting along on a shoestring are long gone, replaced by knuckleheads like me who only do it for the "fun".

Guy seems reputable...tractor has set out...probably before he bought it though...I've got his home #, cell#, home address, wife's name, and some online listings where he's sold some Rams thru some sales. I'm sure it's on the up and up, just still a little nervous when it comes to wiring money...once it's gone, it's gone.

I've got some family within an hour of there. None are really "tractor guys" but my brother's a pretty good judge of value and did recently buy a small tractor.

Are you wanting somebody to inspect the tractor, or drive by and check that the address is legit, or what?

Bob

Do you use Paypal?

Just thinking that if you do (and if you have a smart phone)- and IF the seller uses Paypal too... then that might be an option to pay the man once you go look at the tractor (by using your phone and Paypal).

We bought parts from an out of state junkyard... NOT through Ebay. But I paid the man via Paypal by getting his Paypal email account and directing the payment there. He was coming through MN a couple of weeks later - so we met him at a truck stop about a half hour's drive from here to pick up our parts. It worked great!

I know a couple tractor guys over on RT 32 South of Westminster that would probably help you out if you can't find anyone else, they might know who it is you're dealing with. You can send me an email for their names.I would definitely want to know who I'm dealing with before wiring Money.Might also call up to Yinglings parts yard at Gettysburg, Phil or Danny may know
your seller if he buys used parts their number is 717 359 4848.

The guy doesn't use PayPal, if he did I wouldn't be thinking twice about it. I hate for someone to really go out of there way, really just want to make sure he's on the up and up, which I believe he is. Thought about seeing if the hauler might could be there when I actually wire the money, but in sure that'd be hard to get everyone on the same page for that. The sellers name is Douglas Brewer. Raises sheep and dogs I think. Does some hay.

The judge of character would be great. If the guys honest, then he's told me everything I need to know and I'm sure I'd get a tractor. Just don't want to get scammed for $6k.

You never know. Brother advertised his Case 2490 after he retired. A farmer from the opposite end of the state called and talked awhile, then said that he would arrange for a trucker to pick it up; he bought it sight unseen. The buyer sent a check with the truck driver who picked up the tractor.

A few days later the buyer called my brother to say that the tractor was in much better condition than he had visualized, so he was very happy with his purchase.

I live outside of woodbine, name doesn't ring a bell. I know the barnes and danny yingling very well. Great guys and very honest.

Would you happen to have any free time to maybe swing by and meet the guy? I would send the money with the hauler but he's actually coming out of PA and coming this way empty, so I won't see him till after he's picked the tractor up. Found him thru uship...

If it was me, with gas so cheap, I would just drive the 450 miles and look at the tractor. If you like it, pay for it and then let the shipper handle it. It's not like its in CA.
