I need a universal joint that will fit the small PTO shaft like on a Ford 8N or a TO 20. The other end is a smooth bore for 1 1/8 shaft. Thanks Stan

Most ag suppliers and tractor dealers around here have the common ones on the shelf and can order others.
If you have any of the parts to make the connection you need, take them along to match up.
If you are starting from scratch the first thing you need to know is how much horsepower will the connection need to handle.
Once you have an idea of hp they will be able to select a series/size of joint that will handle what you are trying to do.
Next you will need a yoke that fits on your tractor pto on one end and accepts the u-joint of the chosen series.
After that they will provide you with another yoke that will accept the chosen u-joint on one end while the other end will be sized to attach to the shaft you are trying to drive.
If what you are driving is being pulled behind your tractor or needs to be able to move up and down you will need what is called a slip somewhere between the pto and what you are driving.
This can be splined, square etc.
Even if movement in use is not required, you will still need some way to install the assembly so a deep yoke that fits on to a round keyed or square shaft equipped with set screws to lock the assembly in place after install is required.
If this all makes sense great, if not do a google search for " u330 spicer dana " it will give you all the dimensions and part numbers you will need to get you going in the right direction.

My local Farm and home store has both the PTO size on hand most of the time plus they have the sleeve that makes the bigger one work on the smaller shaft either way will get the job done. I have one of the sleeves on an A/C C for a v-belt pulley set up I have on it and has been there for a decade or more

You can also get an overrunning clutch or a PTO adapter that will bring the PTO up to 1 3/8".....Then you have more options.....

Thanks old. I can use that. It will bring my flail mower output shaft to match the larger spline on the U joint, and not gain any length on the shaft. Stan
