bees doing well?

I know we have a number of bee keepers. Mine weathered the winter and seem fine even though the weather is really bouncing around between really cold, hot, dry, wet. How are your bees doing?

Don't have any bees, but the paper wasps seem to be thriving. They've built their little nests in about every piece of equipment I own, blast their hides.

Steve,Mine all made it though the winter with 0 losses, and have built up their populations already in the last 40 days. They are loaded with brood, and it looks like I will be putting supers on this week.

killer bees are everywhere
a few weeks ago a large swarm flew over me going northward
two fatalities this year of men on tractors mowing grass

Mild winter here in Michigan this year, left more supplies on for the bees then I normally do. Feb. they all looked great from the outside, lot's of bees coming and going. I was waiting for a warm day do open them for inspection. Middle of march and two of my best hives dead. Have one left that's doing fine. Hopefully will get a split maybe two off it. Have been having a heck of a time with wax moths around here. Used to run 20-30 colonies with a buddy, but then our bulk buyer raised the minimum and we were left with more honey then we could get rid of. Buddy lost interest, and retail sales just isn't practical for me. Still like to have a couple hives around though. JD

Still too early to say if they'll actually make it to spring...if it ever gets here. They are alive at this time, but you can never tell if they'll still be alive when the cold weather leaves.

I think ours made it through alright. I had one last season split that wasn't all that robust in the fall, I haven't seen much activity on that one yet. The other two are very busy on a warm day. I haven't unwrapped the hives yet, just sure the cold is done for the season. Next warm spell and the foam board is coming off.
