Ford 8n put put

I have around a 1949 ford 8n when it runs is makes a put put sound it doesnt matter if its high idle or low idle. When I am in fourth gear and take off from a stop sign it really bogs down and then idles back up what could this be.

Sounds like a cylinder missfiring.

Could be you have a couple plug wires on wrong and it is common to happen with the #3 and #4 plug wires. Try switching them and see if that helps. If not check that you do not have a fouled out plug or a plug that is not firing or maybe a problem with a sticking valve

Hard to know what exactly a put put
sound is but head gasket could do
simular sound if leaking to the outside
or between two cylinders

May be a blown manifold gasket on the exhaust side.
