First to hit the field , (Pix)

In CENTRAL MICHIGAN that is. Have seen some BTO farms moving equipment around, but no tillage started. Am cutting up a field of sod so local septage hauler can inject his black liquid gold. Really cut up nice. Soil nice and mellow. Next project isn't going to be near so much fun. Picking rocks in preparation for planting oats/alfalfa.

Anybody else in C Michigan started? Post some pix! No rrlund, spreading stuff don't count as tillage!

Just courious why you feel that you need to run a disc over the ground before knifing in either municiple or farm slurry. Seams like a wasted effort. Farmers around here will just moldboard plow or chisel plow the ground after the "gold" is knifed in on sod or stubble.

After all the rain yesterday morning,I've got water standing all over. I hauled 72 round bales home today. I'd been going in another field then coming through a fencerow to get them out of the field where they were. I went in empty from the road to the field where I needed to be one time, and that was a huge mistake. I did some slipping and sliding, but luckily I didn't rut it up.

Talking to the milkman this morning, he asked if I was in a hurry this year to plant seeding, I said well I have been done with it for over a week now!

Durum is all headed out now; will be ready to harvest late May. Soil is still too cold to plant cotton. Alfalfa is an ongoing crop here; sometimes they get 7-8 cuttings but I doubt that they get that many this year. After a warm spell, it is staying just a little too cool for growing.

So his knife trailer can penetrate. Sod would prevent it from penetrating. Just does't work well. He disks it periodically through the summer, and I finish it up. In the spring it's almost ready to seed. weeds and other plants greatly reduced following season.

Septage comes with it's own set of rules. Can't be handled like farm wastes. Then there's the DEQ and health department always looking over your shoulder. They don't want to see anything on the surface.

MF 180? I was wrenching on mine today. I could use a pic of how the parking brake is set up. I've got two but the parking brake parts are long gone on both.

Southern Wi we are just starting. Chisel plowed 10 acres today and took the disc over another 10. Could plant oats tomorrow but it is calling for rain in the afternoon. Heading out now to spread fertlizer on rye. Tom

The inch and a half of rain I got yesterday must of been South of you. Nobody could have done that in my neck of the woods in Mi. today. Too wet to even haul manure here.

No dirt work yet.. Seeded and ran drag across 40 acres and chopped stalks. Last week March 22

I disked milo stubble a couple of weeks ago. Some of the wheat ground will get disked but it is supposed to start raining tonight so I am guessing it will be a bit again. I was going to get the 40 across from the house done today but then I derailed and worked on the carburetor on the chore pickup. I'm regretting that now.

I got 90% of our fields chisel plowed last fall, that will really help them dry out. Will just have to run the rock picker over a couple fields, then run the field cultivator over it and plant. Was going to run the rock picker in the field next to my shop last week, but then it rained that night and made it too sticky.

Very nice looking equipment. Here in the people's republic of NY, septic waste can't be spread on the fields any more. It has to be taken to a municipal waste water treatment plant. As a result, the cost of getting your tank pumped went from $75 to $300.
