Well, a Fordson. An E27N? Can't quite make it look like a Major. And I don't think the 6cylinder diesel is original.

I'm thinking the engine is a Ford Dorset industrial. Injection pump would be on the other side of the Major.

Hi It's a fordson E27N with a perkins p6 fitted, I don't know if it's a genuine ford factory conversion tractor like the 3 I own and the one I'm working on for a customer. or if it's had a replacement motor or been built up from a conversion kit and parts many years ago. The fuel pump looks to be to far back on the block compared to mine. Mine are all further forward .

It looks like it's a truck motor as they had a vacuum pump for the truck brake system between the fuel injector pump and the timing case where the drive came out. There is not enough pictures of the right things to really tell if it's genuine tractor with replacement motor, Over the last few years guys have been "recreating" Them from basically a set of wheels, 3 oil stains and a motor. They used to be rare, but with the internet guys have been buying them from Canada /Australia and shipping them back to the U.K. or buying repro conversion kits. Now the price has dropped way back and they don't sell for the big money, like they did 5 or more years ago.

Hi Fordfarmer
The newer Ford Dorset/ Dover, and the old shaft drive injection pump 6cyl Dagenham that was in the early countys some trucks and some of the early U.K combines, has the fuel injector pump on the right side. The same as the 4cyl new, power and super majors. The E27N (Major) actually has Fordson Major cast in the front of the radiator header tank. That motor should be a Perkins 288 to be correct for a 6 cyl Diesel tractor of this age, some guys are using a Perkins 305 to in more modern conversions of the E27N. There is also a 4 cyl perkins L4 that was used to but they are a lot rarer to find.

Yes it is a 1950 Era E27N Fordson with the P6 diesel. I agree the injection pump placement doesn't,look right, but couldn't, the get close enough to see if it was.

Hi centash

From what you say you took the pictures. if you can get nearer sometime what does the plate on the exhaust manifold say. it could be from a tractor with the rear discharge or maybe a truck. If you can go the other side where the engine joins on the transmission side of the flange, look there. if it's an original factory conversion it will be stamped with gear ratios like 7.5 or 4.3. and it should have a serial number stamped to. this should match a plate bolted to the exhaust side bulkhead looking on the engine side of it, just below where the rear of the fuel tank sits.

The petrol 4 cyl only had the number on the plate by the rear fuel tank mount. there are a few other ways to tell, but this is the real easy way I know of that would say if it's a genuine factory tractor, with maybe a replacement truck motor . Or just a tractor that was built a while ago with conversion parts, if the early history's not known.
